The Alabama homebrew bill HB9 was unexpectedly brought up for a vote before the Senate last night and passed 18-7 with one abstention! The bill now goes to Governor Bentley. more»

If enacted, Homebrew bill HB 630 will allow Illinois homebrewers to legally share homebrew with friends and family, at club meetings and to enter homebrew competitions. It also would allow homebrew supply shops to conduct brewing demonstrations and offer samples to customers. more»

The Alabama homebrew bill, HB9, was passed by the Alabama House on April 2 and reported favorably by the Senate Job Creation and Economic Development Committee by a narrow 3-2 margin on April 17. The next step is for the whole Senate to vote on it. If HB9 gets approved by the Senate, then it goes to the governor to sign into law. more»

Existing Illinois law does not allow for homebrew to be served outside the home for events like homebrew club meetings and homebrew competitions. The American Homebrewers Association is supporting an effort by the Illinois Homebrewers Alliance, a coalition of Illinois homebrew clubs and homebrew supply shops, to resolve this issue. more»

On March 18, Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant signed SB 2183 into law, which will legalize homebrewing in the state of Mississippi. The new law goes into effect on July 1, 2013, at which time it will officially be legal to homebrew the state. more»
