May 13 Brewing with Botanicals
Head Brewer Tyler Jones and John Forti, Strawbery Banke’s Curator of Historic Landscapes will be discussing the use of botanicals in the brewing process while tasting Puddle Dock Porter, the historical ale created for “Tapping Portsmouth,” Strawbery Banke’s exhibit on the history of brewing in town.  The event is free and first-come, first-served.

May 15 Portsmouth Science Café- ACBW Edition 6pm-8pm
This is a special American Craft Beer Week edition of the Portsmouth Science Café!

American Brewers Guild director and owner of Drop In Brewing Company, Steve Parkes will deliver a lecture and conversation about the science of beer.   There are few better-qualified individuals to teach and discuss matters of brewing science than Steve.

This conversation is open to the public and you don’t need reservations or tickets. Just come downstairs to the Jimmy LaPanza Lounge, which opens at 5pm to stake out your seat and have a pint and a bite.

Portsmouth Science Café is a collaboration between University of New Hampshire and NH EPSCoR (Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research).  It seeks to bring top scientific researchers to the public for an informal dialogue with their research and how it affects the world around it.  Kind of like a PSA with beer.

May 16 Components of Beer- 6pm-7pm
We’re getting back to basics!  Head Brewer Tyler Jones will lead a tutored tasting of malt and hops and talk about how they contribute to the finished beer.  The event is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

May 17 Firkin Friday
We’ve got two firkins going live at 11:30am- Whipper Snapper, our American-style session IPA and Petit Effronté, a new Belgian-style session IPA.  The beers will be gravity-poured and we’re pretty curious to see which casks kicks first.  Isn’t voting delicious?
