In October of 1997, not far from the birthplace of baseball, ground was broken for what was to become one of America’s most unique breweries. Based on traditional Belgian farmhouse architecture and set on a former hop farm in upstate New York, Brewery Ommegang has recreated the Belgian beer experience in America.
Brewery Ommegang brews multiple award-winning Belgian-style ales and offers daily tours and tastings, plus a full calendar of special events at their unique facility in the country.

Brewmaster Phil Leinhart
Phil entered the brewing world a couple of months after he graduated college and has since worked at several small, regional and large breweries including Harpoon Brewery, The Lion Brewery and Anheuser-Busch as well as training/working at the Everards Brewery and Paulaner Brewery in England and Germany, respectively.
Phil joined Brewery Ommegang in January 2007 and has enjoyed getting back into the smaller side of brewing which had its challenges.
“It’s important for me to be a craft brewer because it’s where my heart is and I learned this only after working in breweries of various sizes,” notes Phil. “I like being a small brewer for the camaraderie and being part of a creative process, which allows me brew various styles. I can’t say we’re independent because we’re owned by Duvel Moortgat, but I have only positive things to say about this relationship. To a large extent, they let us do what we want to do and we also benefit from their technical expertise, as well as the chance to visit Belgium every once in a while!”
