The founders of Colorado Beer Week announced the dates for the Best Week of Beer in the state. May 11, 2012 will mark the start of Colorado Beer Week with a spectacular festival and festivities will take place for an entire week, until the closing ceremony on May 19. Scott Kerkmans, the founder of Colorado Beer Week said, “The inaugural eight days of beer and food were such an amazing success that we just had to give Colorado Beer fans more events.”
One of the key differences this year will be the moving of the event to line up with American Craft Beer Week. The Brewers Association, based out of Boulder Colorado, organizes American Craft Beer Week every year, and now Colorado Beer Week will be largely taking place during the same week. Kerkmans continued, “The goal of moving Colorado Beer Week back to line up with American Craft Beer Week was two fold. Not only did it give us a bit better weather in this mountainous state, more importantly, it will help educate and expose more beer drinkers to craft beer.”
In 2011, Colorado Beer Week drew more than 1,000 beer lovers in events from a Cruiser Crawl to a fresh oyster pairing and even a golf tournament. Events for 2012 will include many of the same 25+ breweries that were involved, but will also feature some of the newer breweries Colorado and the U.S. have to offer. Go to COBeerWeek.com for more information and to see events as they are posted throughout February and March. Ticket sales will begin soon and the average beer tasting or pairing starts at $25.
