Celebration on Tap! Standing Stone Brewing Co Brings American Craft Beer Week to Southern Oregon, May 14-20

(Ashland, OR) This month, communities across the nation are taking part in the country’s largest celebration of craft beer American Craft Beer Week® (ACBW). Held from May 14-20 and organized by the Brewers Association, this is a time for Americans to raise a pint to honor small, independent brewers and their contributions to our communities.
Craft beer, made in small batches with innovative blends of high-quality ingredients, offers beer drinkers exceptional brews with complex flavor profiles rivaling fine wines. ACBW is celebrated with diverse events in 50 states, according to the Brewers Association’s press release: “From Ashland, OH to Ashland, OR: Cheers Across the Country for American Craft Beer Week.”

Beer is much more than a simple libation. It’s the hub of conversation and community, and an economic engine that creates jobs, boosts allied supply and distribution industries, and supports communities. According to the Oregon Brewers Guild, Oregon is an industry leader, ranking as the nation’s number two craft beer producer, with 139 breweries employing over 7,900 staff. It’s also the number two hop-growing state, with a crop value estimated at over $31 million in 2010. Southern Oregon’s brewing scene is quickly growing, and features several commercial brewers along with myriad brewpubs and taprooms.

Standing Stone Brewing Co. in Ashland has brewed up a menu of special activities and offerings to ensure the Rogue Valley won’t be left out of the festivities. Among the highlights: Mayor John Stromberg will read a Proclamation in support of the event, and Standing Stone will tap a new specialty beer made entirely with ingredients from Oregon.
“We have so much to celebrate and look forward to sharing a week of fun with friends and neighbors,” says co-owner, Danielle Amarotico.
