Louisville Craft Beer Week

By John Wurth

The 3rd annual Louisville Craft Beer Week is a 9-day, citywide celebration of local and regional craft beer. With over 60 events planned, the primary goal of Louisville Craft Beer Week is to promote our area’s thriving craft beer culture, enhancing beer knowledge and appreciation. The 12 page pull-out guide in the Sept. 19 issue of LEO, along with our website, LouisvilleBeer.com, will be the guide to all of the events that are part of this celebration.

For the second year in a row, LouisvilleBeer.com has had the privilege of promoting and organizing Craft Beer Week. The inaugural LCBW in 2010 was run by a loosely organized brewers guild of sorts. It was handed over to LouisvilleBeer.com in 2011 with little time to promote it. They pushed the events online via social media and the website. In the end, it was a success and they were excited to start working on the next year, wanting it to be bigger and better. An overview video of last year’s LCBW can be found at http:// bit.ly/oILAIN.

This year, LouisvilleBeer.com started promoting earlier. With the blessing of all of the local breweries, they have taken Louisville Craft Beer Week up a few notches. This is going to be the biggest Craft Beer Week ever. They hope to bring awareness of great beer to a wider audience by publishing a 12-page guide in LEO Weekly, as well as a mobile marketing app and text alerts (text ‘lcbw’ to 72727 to receive text alerts throughout the week).
