Meddlesome Moth, located at 1621 Oak Lawn Ave., will host a special tutored beer dinner featuring Stephen Beaumont and Tim Webb, authors of “The World Atlas of Beer,” on Monday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m..
Beaumont and Webb will guide guests through the evening, which will showcase five select beers and chef pairings and conclude with a book signing of the duo’s book, “The World Atlas of Beer,” which provides an in-depth history of beer – its origins, brewing methods, brewing technologies, trends and more – as well as a detailed overview of more than 500 of the greatest beers from around the world. The book also includes sections devoted to major beer-producing countries and regions, including information on craft brewing, emerging markets, extreme beers, future-trend forecasts and more.
The evening’s food and beer experience will begin with the first course of Kung Pao sweet bread with shishito peppers and peanuts paired with a Cuvee Des Trolls, a strong Belgian golden ale. The second course will include fresh figs, fourme d’ambert cheese and candied sorghum pork belly accompanied by a Duchesse De Bourgogne, a Flanders red ale, followed by a third course of Davis Farmers Market tomatoes, toasted sweet corn, Tabasco aioli and smoked salmon served with an Ayinger Oktober Fest-Märzen. Guests will then enjoy fried beef cheek served with hen of the woods and faro, paired with a Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron, a wood-aged American brown ale. The dinner will conclude with sweet potato churro with goat cheese and caramel accompanied by a Victory Golden Monkey, a Belgian-style Tripel.
Tickets for the event are $75. Ticket price includes tax and gratuity, and guests can purchase tickets at the Moth or by calling 214-628-7900. Reservations are strongly recommended, as this event is likely to sell out.
