Aspen Brewing Company released first two brews of Temerity SeriesDecember 17, 2012
A long time coming, but the Aspen Brewing Company Temerity Series has arrived…now see if you can get some.
Brett Barrel Saison
We took our Great American Beer Festival silver medal award winning Saison, added a very special strain of Brettanomyces, and then put it into some gorgeous French oak wine barrels from our friends at Donelan Family Wines in Napa. Then we waited. And then we waited some more. After three seasons and many samplings we decided these barrels had come of age and it was time to release them into the wild. What we ended up with is a light, dry and effervescent brew that alters between layers of oak, jammy red wine, pie cherry, citrus zest, “bretty” sour and more.
Bourbon Barrel Double Conundrum Imperial Red Ale
This barrel-aged beer began its journey to you in a Colorado hop field late this summer when we picked 300 pounds of fresh cascade hops. The same day we married those “just-picked” hop flavors with a massive dose of premium pale malts, rye, and caramel malt-we could have stopped there but we didn’t. Instead, we laid this beer down to sleep for three months in Colorado whiskey barrels until it was ready to wake up and face the infamous Aspen winter. The short barrel aging lends to aggressive notes of bourbon, oak, vanilla and smoke that compliment and enhance the caramel and rye flavors.
Brewed and bottled in Aspen, Colorado…downstream from nobody.
