The Beer That Keeps on Giving, Kannah Creek Brewing Company’s spring seasonal, Crossed Irons Irish Ale. For the 3rd consecutive year, a portion of the Crossed Irons sales will go directly to the Terry Farrell Firefighter Fund- Colorado Chapter.
The Terry Fund uses donations to help firefighters inured or killed in the line of duty, a firefighter family member that is sick or has an ambition to receive a college education, or the fund might provide resources for a smaller volunteer department with no money for training or equipment.
“Since its inception in 2011 the Colorado Chapter of the TFFF (Terry Farrell Firefighter Fund) has been able to donate well over $100,000 to Colorado firefighters and their family’s for medical needs, education, tools and equipment,” states TFFF- CO Chapter Board Member, Doug Lee. “All funds raised by the Colorado Chapter stay in Colorado to help our local firefighters. Without the generous support of companies like Kannah Creek we would be unable to fulfill the numerous requests for assistance received throughout the year.”
Kannah Creek Brewing Company’s interest in helping Colorado firefighters began in 2008 when a local firefighter, a regular at the brewpub, was diagnosed with leukemia. The owners changed the name of a seasonal offering known as Monument Red to Crossed Irons Irish Ale. A portion of the Crossed Irons draft sales were then donated to the firefighter and his family to help cover medical expenses.
Kannah Creek has donated $2,058 to the Terry Farrell Firefighter Fund- CO Chapter over the last two years.
The Crossed Irons is a traditional red ale with medium malt body and light hop bitterness. It has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 5.2% and an international bittering unit (IBU) of 30. Crossed Irons refers to firemen hand tools; the flathead axe and halligan bar. This craft beer is available in 6-packs and on draft at bars and restaurants throughout Colorado.
