Russian Imperial Stout aged for one year in oak bourbon barrels available in pubs and restaurants

HOUSTON, May 13, 2013 – Saint Arnold Brewing Co. (www.saintarnold.com), the oldest craft brewery in Texas, is releasing Bishop’s Barrel No. 3 today. The third offering of Saint Arnold’s small batch barrel aged series of beers, Bishop’s Barrel No. 3 is a Russian Imperial Stout aged for 12 months in oak bourbon barrels that the brewery acquired from Kentucky’s Woodford Reserve distillery.

Saint Arnold Bishop’s Barrel No. 3 will only be available in pubs and restaurants throughout Texas and Louisiana that normally carry Saint Arnold beer.

Saint Arnold Bishop’s Barrel is a series of beers that have been aged in barrels specifically chosen to enhance and complement the characteristics of the underlying beers. Each batch of Bishop’s Barrel is distinguished by the number on the neck label.

Saint Arnold Bishop’s Barrel No. 3 is a pleasant sipping beer with the bourbon present but not overpowering. It pours a black color with a nose that is all bourbon and chocolate. The taste starts with a mix of spice with the bourbon and chocolate emerging and lingering through the finish. By using the house Saint Arnold yeast has added a touch of creaminess to the beer.
