Upland Brew Co. Sweet Myrtle

Share Post

Sweet Myrtle was chosen as the winner of the 15 Beers for 15 Years Competition at Upland Brewing Company’s 15th Anniversary. What began as a brewer’s desire to make a non-traditional ale turned into a crowd favorite. Sweet Myrtle celebrates both an anniversary and the passion we have for making great beer as seen through our Side Trail Series. Cheers!

For Immediate Release:

Upland Brewing Co. announced today that Sweet Myrtle Specialty Ale will be released on draught on November 1st in select establishments. Look for it on draught at Upland retail locations on November 8th.

Beer DescriptionSweet Myrtle has a sweet earthy aroma. The Sterling hop addition imparts a spicy, herbal scent and plays nicely with the sweet dark fruit character from the dates added to the boil. These aspects continue on in the flavor profile; sweetness from the honey and dates mixes on the palate with the earthy herbal character of the sweet gale. This beer is not about hops, rather it highlights some atypical flavors not often found in an American craft beer. Finishes smooth and clean with a lingering sweetness.

ABV: 6.3   IBU: 20

About the Brewery:  Located in Bloomington, Indiana, Upland’s rich history dates all the way back to 1998. Taking traditional recipes and making them a bit more awesome, Upland Brewing Co. came up with their own recipes rooted with inspiration from good beer and good friends, providing a fresh local option to their communities. The name Upland comes from the term geologists gave to this area of Southern Indiana land which was never overrun by the glaciers that flattened much of Indiana’s landscape. The adversity of the land bred independent thinkers who had strong wills, a connection to the land, and a wry sense of humor about life. Upland’s approach to brewing beer honors the spirit of these people and this place.
