Wild-crafted, foraged beer, place-based, indigenous beer, landscape-inspired. These are terms that are always on our mind. Beers Made By Walking invites brewers to create beer inspired by plants identified on nature trails and urban walks. We have been heralded as a leading force in the place-based beer movement as we have expanded our reach throughout Colorado, Oregon, Washington, North Carolina, California, and many other locations.

Each year we invite breweries from around the country to create specialty beers for our Denver Festival. This year, the date is set for September 23, from 4:30-8:00pm. Tickets are $30 and include a commemorative glass, and unlimited samples of beer from over 30 breweries. If you’re going to be in Denver for the Great American Beer Festival, you won’t want to miss out. Get updates on our FB Event page and get your tickets now!

The List of Breweries

A number of the breweries participating in Beers Made By Walking have created beer inspired by this trail.

Sneak Peek at Some Festival Beers

Sneak Peek #01

FATE Brewing Company brewed a honey wheat beer, with Brettanomyces, for BMBW back in 2013. After serving a fresh version of the beer, they held on to the remaining beer and let it get funky and tart for a year. They served that aged, tart beer at our festival last year. This year, they will serve the same beer, inspired by a walk in Chautaqua Park, now aged and soured for two years. We’re looking forward to seeing how it has changed over time! Sneak Peek #02 This month we are heading to New Belgium to brew a collaboration beer with four different North Carolina breweries (Birdsong, Free Range, Heist, and NoDa). You can read more about the project here. Stay tuned, we will share photos from our adventure in a couple of weeks!

Cheers!
