Chatty Monks Brewing Company to Open Second Location

Chatty Monks will be opening a second, larger location next year in Phoenixville, in addition to expanding their current space with second floor seating. The new brewery and restaurant will occupy the long-vacant 13,000 square foot space, which was previously the home of Superior Beverage Company.

“The meteoric growth we’ve experienced has been truly incredible. We’re thrilled about the new location and cannot wait to open the doors and share the space with our customers,” says Brian Reedy, one of Chatty Monk’s four co-owners. “There are many brewpubs that exist successfully in large warehouses. We, however, want to create a unique and inviting environment to take the brewpub experience to a new level.”

With plans to open in spring 2016, the Chatty Monks team is already working with high-end designers, artists, and experienced consultants to ensure the space is a success right from the start.

“The new restaurant will have around 250 seats, which is more than twice the size of our West Reading location,” co-owner Rob Metzger says. “We have a lot of space to create an awesome environment for people to ‘chew, chant, and chill’ in.”

But a larger seating area isn’t the only big improvement in the new Phoenixville space: the new brewing system will allow the Monks to brew more beer for distribution, events, and their pub.

“The new brewery will have a 15-barrel system with 30- and 15-barrel fermenting tanks,” Norm Eaton, co-owner and master brewer, explains. “Our current set up has a 3-barrel system, so I’m excited to see the improvement and higher yield in action.”

For Chatty Monks, the only way is up. The owners are thrilled to be participating in the 2015 Great American Beer Festival, one of the largest national beer competitions and festivals in the U.S, taking place September 24 – 26. The team will be entering four beers into the competition, including two IPAs, a stout, and an ale.

“Competing on a national level is a thrilling opportunity,” co-owner Joe Ellis states. “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve done, and we can’t wait to for a larger audience to get a taste of what Chatty Monks is about—particularly our Endoplasmic Reticulum IPA!”

With everything happening over the next year, the Chatty Monks team is going to have their hands full. However, all four co-owners agree that there is always time for beer.
