Foothills Preparing Big Initiatives for NC Beer Month – Plans include #NCBeerMonthChallenge, #HopSwap

April is NC Beer Month, and Foothills Brewing is gearing up for its most ambitious celebration ever.

In addition to a full calendar of pub and tasting room events, Foothills is focusing efforts in two areas critical to the continued success of NC Beer – water natural resources and support of the state’s small independent breweries.

To begin with, Foothills is issuing the #NCBeerMonthChallenge – hoping to inspire every state brewery to take up the cause of clean water and make an effort to improve that vital natural resource.

Foothills will be leading the way with a cooperative Yadkin Riverkeeper cleanup, as well as a check presentation to that organization, reflecting proceeds from last year’s Riverkeeper Lager Series. There will even be water-themed trivia rounds during the downtown brewpub’s regularly scheduled Tuesday and Thursday trivia nights.

“Our commitment to the vital work that North Carolina’s riverkeeper organizations do is ongoing,” said Foothills President and CEO Jamie Bartholomaus. “Our main goal is always to make and sell great craft beer; the NC Beer Month Challenge is indicative of our goal to also be a responsible member and thought leader in the North Carolina craft beer community.”

Foothills’ other initiative involves Brewmaster T.L. Adkisson trekking to every region of the state, with a keg of Foothills’ Hop of the Month Series beer in tow, for a #HopSwap with breweries producing under 5,000 barrels annually.

“It’s no secret that craft beer is a brotherhood,” said T.L. “With competition increasing, we want to make sure that small independent breweries here in North Carolina know we remain committed to that brotherhood, and that we support them and the challenges they face. It wasn’t so long ago we faced the same challenges.”

“With success come responsibility,” said co-owner Matt Masten in summing up Foothills’ ambitious month-long plans. “As one of the top five largest craft breweries in the state, it’s up to us to embrace a leadership role and actively pursue the types of programs and initiatives that will help NC Beer enjoy an accountable and prosperous future.”
