Fordham and Old Dominion Gets the Band Back TogetherMay 1, 2012
Dover, DE – The Fordham and Old Dominion Brewing Company hosted 150 attendees at their first ever outdoor movie night on April 25th where they showed “The Blues Brothers.”
At 7:30 pm, the brewery began collecting canned goods for the Shepherd Place, a homeless shelter in Dover, and serving their signature beers, such as Oak Barrel Stout, Beach House, and Wisteria Wheat. Popcorn was readily available and the Shepherd Place raised operating funds with the sale of Fordham Bier Dawgs. As the sun set, attendees settled into their lawn chairs, and “The Blues Brothers” started rolling. With 150 spectators, the movie night was a resounding success for both the brewery and the community.
The brewery kicked off their charity campaign, “The Year of Giving Back,” with the movie night and resultant donations to the Shepherd Place. They will continue by using R2Hop2, a beer and music festival, to support Dover Air Force Base’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program, the Shepherd Place, and the local fire departments. This May 19th event will feature many local artisans, a children’s area, and a keg toss competition. Festival details may be found at FordhamBrewing.com.
President and CEO of Fordham and Dominion, Jim Lutz, stated “Just as the brewery could not run without the passion and dedication of our hardworking employees, the Shepherd Place could not operate without the support of the local community. My colleagues are enthusiastic about bettering the neighborhoods in which they live and work, so being able to use a fun event like movie night to raise awareness and donations for the shelter was a no-brainer. You will be seeing a lot more charity benefits in our future.”
