Lawrence, Kansas – July 7, 2014 – In celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Free State Brewery downtown and the 5th anniversary of the production brewery in east Lawrence, Free State welcomes the public to attend an open house at the production and bottling facility at 1923 Moodie Road Saturday July 19th from 1:00-4:00. This family friendly event will feature tours of the plant guided by Free State’s brewers and staff. Food, Free State beer and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase with proceeds going to benefit the Health Care Access Clinic, which provides medical care to the uninsured in Douglas County.

Steve Bradt, Free State’s Head of Brewing Operations and a board member for the Health Care Access Clinic says, “ We wanted a chance to show people the changes and advancements at our production brewery that have allowed us to expand our reach to Eastern Missouri and Nebraska. We also wanted to continue to give back to the Lawrence community by creating an opportunity to raise money for a needed local service.”

Free State Brewing Co. opened in1989 as the first legal brewery in the State of Kansas since prohibition.  Expanded production in 2009 has made Free State bottled beer available through out the States of Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska.
