Tallahassee, Fla. – The Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce announced the winners for its 2014 Chamber Awards during a ceremony held in front of almost 400 attendees earlier today. Six different category winners were announced, highlighted by New Leaf Market Co-op being selected as the coveted “Chamber Business of the Year.”  Presented by Capital City Bank and the Tallahassee Democrat, this is the 29th year of the Chamber Awards.

“As the voice of local business in Tallahassee, the Chamber Awards are our opportunity to recognize the best businesses and organizations for their success and commitment to our community,” said Sue Dick, President/CEO of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Council of Tallahassee/Leon County. “I want to congratulate New Leaf Market Co-op for winning Chamber Business of the Year, as well as the other five category winners for leading by example and making our community a better place to live and work.”

The Chamber Awards is an annual ceremony recognizing businesses for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the community. Of the original 59 nominated businesses in six categories, 18 were chosen as finalists, with one winner in each category. The six category winners then competed for the overall “Chamber Business of the Year award.”

GrassLands Brewing Company received the Entrepreneurial Start-up Business of the Year award, among fellow finalists Madison Social (an eclectic and social dining experience neighboring Florida State University’s Doak Campbell stadium) and FitFuel Nutrition (an innovative healthy foods delivery service).

“We are just totally humbled and honored to be included among such amazing businesses,” said Gabe Grass, founder of GrassLands, in accepting the award.

“Our mission is not just making great beer. It’s actually bringing people together,” Grass added.

GrassLands, located in the center of Tallahassee’s vibrant downtown & collegetown communities, will launch its taproom and begin production this fall. For more information, visit www.grasslandsbrewery.com.
