Newburgh Brewing Launches in NYCMay 25, 2012
First Kegs Arrive Friday morning, May 25th…
May 24th, 2012 – with the first kegs being delivered tomorrow morning (Friday, May 25th), NYC fans of Newburgh Brewing can now head out into Manhattan and Brooklyn to enjoy Newburgh beer. With our limited production, Newburgh beer will only be available in select locations in the 5 boroughs – the positive response to our beer has been overwhelming and is incredibly appreciated. This list will grow over the next few weeks – but without further adieu, we are excited to announce the following locations will be receiving the first NYC-distributed kegs of Newburgh:
Pony Bar (1444 1st Avenue) – Peat Smoked Stout, Saison
Colicchio and Sons (85 10th Avenue) – Cream Ale
Standings (43 E 7th Street) – Cream Ale
Swift (34 E 4th Street) – Cream Ale
ABC Beer Co. (96 Avenue C) – Peat Smoked Stout
Dive 75 (101 W 75th Street) – Saison
George Keeley’s (485 Amsterdam Avenue) – Cream Ale
Spuyten Dyvil (359 Metropolitan Avenue) – Brown Ale, Cream Ale, Peat Smoked Stout, Saison
“We are excited to be distributing in New York City, because each of the principals of the company (Christopher Basso, Charlie Benedetti, and Paul Halayko) have close ties to the city”, notes Christopher Basso, Newburgh’s Brewmaster. “I brewed at the Brooklyn Brewery for nearly 7 years, and lived in Brooklyn; Paul lived in Manhattan and worked on Wall Street; and Charlie (who also worked on Wall Street) was born in Queens, and lived there for many years before moving upstate.”
Says Paul Halayko, Newburgh Brewing’s President: “The City of Newburgh isn’t always mentioned in the most favorable light. Now, a high-quality product that is handcrafted right in the City of Newburgh will be enjoyed by people outside of the Hudson Valley. And maybe, when someone drinks a Newburgh beer, and sees our tap handle proudly displaying ‘NEWBURGH’, they will remember Newburgh in a positive light”. Adds Charlie Benedetti, Head of Sales: “And that positive association, however small, can hopefully play a role in the overall economic and cultural revitalization of Newburgh”.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend, and whenever possible, drink local!
