Waunakee, WI – July 7, 2015 – Octopi Brewing is pleased to announce the addition of Michael Krause to the Octopi team as Head Brewer. With over ten years of experience in the craft brewing industry, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and an entrepreneurial spirit to the Midwest’s premier contract brewery.

“Michael’s experience and expertise will give Octopi the ability to produce any style of beer at the highest quality level for our clients,” says Isaac Showaki, president of Octopi Brewing. Michael will be leading the operation of a 50 barrel brewhouse from Germany’s Esau & Hueber and a 9,000 bottle-per-hour bottling system from Germany’s KHS.

As Head Brewer and Operations Manager of O’so Brewing, Michael grew O’so from a small operation to one of the largest and most beloved local breweries in the state. Under his direction, the brand increased from 350 barrels in their first year to 7,000 by the time he left, earning O’so the award of “Most Wisconsin Brewery” by Wisconsin Beer.

O’so’s rapid growth lead the company to build a second, larger facility, which makes Octopi the third brewing facility where Mike will lead start-up operations. “I can only imagine the level of beer quality we will be able to create at Octopi’s new state of the art facility”, explains Mike, who holds a degree in Water Resources and Water Chemistry from University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. “I am excited to bring new great beer to the Wisconsin beer drinking community.”

Also joining Octopi’s team as Lead Production Brewer is Sam Green. Originally from Madison, Sam grew his brewing career in Colorado, first with Tommyknocker Brewery in Idaho Springs, and more recently as Lead Brewer for the award-winning Boulder Beer. “I love the science and art of beer”, says Sam. “Brewing is constantly a learning process to which the rabbit hole only gets deeper and deeper. I am excited to bring more great beer to my hometown.”
