Pikes Peak Brewing Company Debuts In-House Canning Line
Incline Imperial IPA – Hoppiest Beer Brewed in Colorado Springs Goes First
Pikes Peak Brewing Company recently primed our new Wild Goose 4-head canning line with the hoppiest beer brewed in Colorado Springs, the Incline Imperial IPA.
Incline IIPA is named for the Incline Trail in Manitou Springs. The Incline was built in 1907 as a narrow gauge funicular railway to service water tanks high above the historic town of Manitou Springs. It served as a tourist ride until a rainstorm washed away the tracks in 1990. Today it is a fitness challenge to climb the path, rising 2,000 feet in under a mile. The Incline beer is constructed to match the proportions of the hike in an Imperial IPA. Built with over three pounds of hops per barrel, it clocks in at 185 IBUs (calculated) and 10.5% ABV. Like the trail, it’s not for the faint of heart and carries a sense of accomplishment when finished.
The Incline Imperial IPA is a very limited release in 16 ounce cans, available now in select Colorado Springs and Denver Liquor stores.
Pikes Peak Brewing Co. began canning its Elephant Rock IPA and Devil’s Head Red Ale during the summer of 2013 with the help of Mobile Canning out of Louisville, Colorado. The installation of the canning line at the brewery will make it possible for PPBC to produce new cans such as the Gold Rush Belgian Strong Ale as well as some of the more popular seasonal brews.
