Houston, September 27, 2012 – Voice of America’s Russian news service has featured Saint Arnold Brewing Company, the oldest craft brewery in Texas, as a model of modern community building in America. The report for a Russian audience by Daniel Levin includes descriptions by Saint Arnold Founder/Brewer Brock Wagner of what differentiates craft beer and brewing from industrial brewing.
The report highlights Saint Arnold Brewing’s mission of creating an institution that Texas can be proud of.
“Part of what I’m doing is going back and really reflecting on the history of beer and how beer has traditionally been a part of communities, which is something we lost in this country after prohibition,” Wagner said in the news report. “We are all about getting people to come in, visit the brewery, meet us, we’ll talk to you about the beer and, once they start to understand the differences between what we do versus what the big breweries do, there’s really this connection that they have with us. It’s incredibly gratifying.”
