Houston brewery climbs to 43rd, producing more than 40,000 barrels 2011
HOUSTON, April 21, 2012–The Brewers Association released its annual list of the top 50 craft breweries this week, ranking Saint Arnold Brewing Company at 43rd based on 2011 beer sales volume. This is the third consecutive year Saint Arnold Brewing, the oldest craft brewery in Texas, made the list. Saint Arnold was ranked 48th the previous two years.
2011 was a year of historic innovation for the Saint Arnold brew crew. The brewery increased production by 29 percent, reaching 40,416 barrels, while adding new year-round brews including Saint Arnold Weedwacker and Santo, and seasonal including Saint Arnold Pumpkinator and Saint Arnold Sailing Santa. In early 2012, the brewery has been keeping the new brews flowing with the launch of Saint Arnold Endeavour Double IPA.
Although production keeps increasing, little has changed within our company other than adding a few more great people to our team,” said Brock Wagner, founder/brewer of Saint Arnold Brewing. “We focus on always being better brewers and developing new recipes while also continuing to make it a point to support charitable causes that our community cares about, such as the BP MS 150 and the Hops for Heroes initiative.”
In 2009, the Saint Arnold MS 150 team was recognized with the Million Dollar Team Award. So far this year the Saint Arnold Bike Team has more than $225,000 in pledges. Donate to the team.
In addition to its year-round stable of beers, Saint Arnold Brewing currently is offering its award-winning Saint Arnold Summer Pils, a crisp and refreshing Bohemian-style pilsner first introduced 15 years ago. The winner of a Gold Medal at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival, Saint Arnold Summer Pils is brewed with fine German malt, and two central European noble hop varieties – Czech Saaz and Hallertau Hersbrucker – to achieve a sweet malt taste complemented by an abundant hop aroma and flavor.
