Until Wednesday night, Raffaele Notaro thought nothing could overshadow his summer beer excitement after attending SAVOR: An American Craft Beer & Food Experience in Washington, DC, earlier in June. That quickly changed when he received an email which read: “CraftBeer.com’s Great American Beer Festival Giveaway.” Needless to say, Notaro was eager to claim his prize, as the email explained, and called the Brewers Association soon as he could.
“Unfortunately, I had already left the office by then, which in retrospect probably kept him [Notaro] up all night wondering if this was some kind of a joke,” laughed CraftBeer.com’s Andy Sparhawk. “I heard the excitement in his voice and figured that maybe the pain of leaving him hanging overnight might offer some solace to all of the other craft beer fans that wanted this trip so badly.”
“This is incredibly awesome! I’m very excited!” exclaimed Raffaele, a Market Analyst from Alexandria, Virginia. “Winning this prize and getting to go to my first Great American Beer Festival is unbelievably awesome!”
Notaro credits his brewing buddy, Erik Meyers, noted craft beer blogger of Top Fermented and founder of the North Carolina start-up, Mystery Brewing for imparting a great deal of his beer knowledge. “I am a huge craft beer fan and have learned a great deal from my friends who brew.”
Notaro will fly to Denver later this month to attend all four sessions of GABF, and stay at the host hotel just blocks from the festival. The CraftBeer.com GABF giveaway is over for this year, but don’t worry, another trip will be up for grabs in 2012.
Congrats to Raffaele—one lucky craft beer-lovin’ dude!
