AUBURN, AL (September 20, 2012) – Beer aficionados can celebrate their favorite craft brews during The Hotel at Auburn University’s second-annual Oktoberfest on September 28th.  From 5:30-8 p.m. around the pool and in the Terrace Room, beer enthusiasts will be able to taste 24 beers from 12 breweries  paired with 24 small bites created by Executive Chef Marc Schulz and Ariccia Chef Garry Anderson.  In addition to great ales and food, live music performed by Patrick Bruce will keep guests entertained all night.  Advanced tickets are $39 per person and can be purchased by visiting http://auhccoktoberfest.bpt.me/.  Tickets can be purchased at the door for $45.  For additional information, please contact Allison Duke at 334-321-3181.

“Craft beer has really taken the nation by storm during the last few years, meaning that smaller breweries are able to continue to produce really unique beers.  We are excited to help these brewers showcase their products, while at the same time showing people how to pair them with different dishes that range in taste from savory to sweet,” said Hans van der Reijden, managing director of The Hotel at Auburn Univeristy.  “Our Oktoberfest is a great way to raise awareness about different craft beers available in the region.”

The following breweries from Alabama, Georgia, Colorado, New York, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Maryland will be providing samples of their craft beers:  Avondale Brewing Company, Back Forty Beer Co., Bells Brewery, Blue Pants Brewery, Boston Beer Company, Brewery Ommegang, Good People Brewing Company, Heavy Seas Beer, Oskar Blues, Straight 2 Ale, SweetWater Brewing Company, and Yellowhammer Brewing.  Each beer will be paired with a unique small plate to accompany the craft beers’ flavors.  Highlights from the Oktoberfest menu include:

After Oktoberfest ends, music lovers are invited to Piccolo to enjoy a live performance by Roman Street.  These Alabama musicians hail from Mobile and graduated from Auburn University, and they return to Auburn to show off their unique blend of music – a mixture of “new” flamenco, smooth and not-so-smooth jazz.  Roman Street is proud to play their own brand of fusion style music that features a youthful and spontaneous approach to musical expression.  The band strives to be a breath of fresh air to those beleaguered by the rampant cover-bands that provide already over-played music.
