SANDPOINT, IDAHO- MickDuff’s Brewing Company would like to welcome area residents to their family restaurant for a night that benefits the 24 Hours of Schweitzer. Happening Thursday, March 22, from 5pm-9pm at MickDuff’s a fundraising event for the Team 24 Hours for Hank.
The 4th annual 24 hours of Schweitzer is a team relay for skiers, telemark skiers, and snowboarders beginning on Friday March 30th and ending on Saturday.Last year’s effort saw Matt Gillis raise more than $16,000, complete 202 runs, and became the 3-time defending champion. This year Matt has set his sights high and hopes to raise $30,000 but he cannot do it without the support of his family, friends, and the community.
Hank is a child who was diagnosed, at 16 months old, with Cystinosis in November 2007 after seeing a team of specialists at Children’s Hospital in Seattle. He then began the demanding medication schedule of five different medications every 6 hours, 8am, 2pm, 8pm and 2am. In an attempt to help a cure come sooner rather than later, their friends and family started the 24 Hours for Hank foundation to help raise funds for research. To date the foundation has raised over $300,000 for Cystinosis Research.
MickDuff’s has sponsored a team since the inaugural 24 Hours at Schweitzer. In order to show even more support for Matt and the 24 Hours for Hank Foundation, they are hosting a ‘Burger For Hank’ night where a portion of the Hank Burger and beer sales will go Matt and Team 24 Hours for Hank. Matt Gillis will be guest bartending and any tip will go straight towards his goal of raising $30,000 this year for the 24 Hours of Schweitzer event.
