Twisted Pine Brewery to host benefit for a local family in need

Boulder, Colorado – July 10th 2011 – Twisted Pine Brewing Company will be hosting a benefit to raise money for the Nielsen family Sunday, July 10th. The Nielsen family has recently been victimized by a drunk driving accident that claimed the life of one man and hospitalized a woman and child. Twisted Pine hopes to raise money to offer the family assistance with their medical expenses and other bills. “When I read the article in the Daily Camera I knew we had to do something to help these people in their darkest hour,” says Twisted Pine Ale House Manager Emily Valenta, who coordinated the event.  “Our brewery has always had a strong sense of community involvement and it is important to us to support a local family in need.”

Twisted Pine Brewing Co. will be donating $1 from every pint to the Nielsen family and will be accepting cash donations as well. In addition, a silent auction will take place from 12p-5p with unique beer paraphernalia, weekend getaways and donations from local restaurants and liquor stores. On Sunday attendees can also participate in Brewery Olympics from 2-6p at the Twisted Pine Ale House. Entry fee is a $10 donation and events consist of frozen T-shirt contests, blind keg tapping, ridiculous relay and beer trivia with prizes for the top three teams.  To promote sober driving, all designated drivers will receive a free T-shirt.

The Nielsen Family benefit will join the brewery’s monthly series of fundraisers. Customers can also bring in three cans of food and get a free pint any day, with all canned food donations going to the local nonprofit Emergency Family Assistance Association.  “Giving back to the community is built into the core of our company, it’s a part of who we are and what we do” says Valenta.  Join Twisted Pine Brewery on Sunday and have a pint for a good cause and a great family.
