U.S. Senators’ Craft Beer Super Bowl Bet

By CraftBeer.com February 1, 2012

New York Senator Charles Schumer and New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen have placed an interesting Super Bowl bet using their local craft beers as currency.

If the New England Patriots win, Sen. Schumer will buy every member of the Senate a beer from Smuttynose Brewing Company in Portsmouth, NH. If the New York Giants win, Sen. Shaheen will offer her fellow senators a beer from one of six New York breweries—Brown’s Brewing Co. (Troy, NY), Brooklyn Brewery (Booklyn, NY), Blue Point Brewing Co. (Patchogue, NY) Saranac Brewery (Utica, NY), Captain Lawrence Brewing Co. (Pleasantville, NY) or Ithaca Beer Company (Ithaca, NY).

This bet comes on the tail of Sen. Schumer’s launch of his “I Love NY Brew” Campaign, in which he encourages New York restaurants, bars and convenience stores to sell locally made beer. For more details on the campaign, read the press release from Sen. Schumer.
