On Friday, July 9, Fifty West Brewing Co. will bring together local Cincinnati breweries for an epic beer release that’ll give a nod to a part of the city’s history: boxing.

The beer in question? Fifty West’s very own Punch You in the Eyepa. The main attraction? Boxing. The contenders? Ten local brewers.

“Cincinnati’s heritage used to be about boxing and brewing, and we are trying bring back that rich history,” explains Fifty West co-founder Bobby Slattery.

That’s right. For one night only, under the lights of their new production facility, brewers from eight local breweries will go head-to-head for three rounds of boxing as a way to celebrate the anticipated brew.

“This is bigger than just our brewery. It’s about bringing together our city in a fun and exciting way,” Slattery says.

Fifty West isn’t cutting any corners. The brewers have spent the past month training for their matches, which will be run by a crew of referees, judges and an announcer to bring authenticity to the ring.

The event is much more than a celebration of a single beer — it’s a way to celebrate the entire city and its thriving small and independent craft beer scene. In addition to the main event, the release party will also serve as a beer festival featuring more than 50 local brews with representatives from the breweries taking part in the festivities.

Pre-sale tickets are now available online and at both Fifty West locations.
