Wyoming Brewers Collaborate on Brown (& Gold) Ale

Wyoming Brewers Collaborate on Brown (& Gold) Ale

For the second year in a row, craft brewers in the state of Wyoming came together to brew a beer in commemoration of the Cowboy State. Altitude Chophouse and Brewery’s Nathan Venner filled us in on this year’s version.

“This year we were hosted at Wind River Brewing in Pinedale and made an English brown ale and aged it in barrels from Wyoming Whiskey,” said Venner. We used only hops with “golding” in the name so we could have a brown and gold (University of Wyoming colors) in Wyoming barrels. We are set to simultaneously release this beer on Monday, May 13 to start off ACBW.”

The first state-wide collaboration was brewed in 2012. An India pale ale referred to as a WYPA, is believed to be the first collaboration in which an entire state’s brewers had a hand in production.
