Adelbert’s Brewery Launches New Barrel Aged Special Series with Contemplating Waterloo Release

Share Post

August 14, 2014 – AUSTIN – Adelbert’s Brewery is pleased to announce the first release of a new special series it will be creating with barrels from Treaty Oak Distilling Co. Contemplating Waterloo, the inaugural beer for the series, is a distinct barrel aged beer that was made by aging Adelbert’s Philosophizer, a spicy and citrusy saison, in Waterloo Antique Gin barrels from Treaty Oak Distilling Co. The result is a complex array of lavender, juniper and oak from the barrel balanced with the Philosophizer to create a smooth, warming ale.

Scott Hovey, Founder of Adelbert’s Brewery said, “We’ve had a close relationship with Treaty Oak for several years and are big fans of their sprits. When the opportunity came up to age our beer in their barrels, we jumped at the opportunity. The unique flavors their barrel aging brings to their liquors complements several of our beers extremely well.”

“We have enjoyed some amazing beers from Adelbert’s ever since they moved in as our neighbor,” said Daniel Barnes Founder of Treaty Oak Distilling Co. “To see our barrels get a second life by being a part of such great beer is really exciting.  We can’t wait to see what other mutual collaborations lie ahead.”

Set to the hit market in late August, approximately only 110 cases will be shipped to Austin, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio with the first release. In light of the limited amount, the brewery will be posting a list of accounts receiving Contemplating Waterloo on their social media as it is delivered to each market. The brewery hopes to release future batches of Contemplating Waterloo pending barrel availability.

A few months behind Contemplating Waterloo, Adelbert’s will be releasing the second installment in the series, Tripel Treat. Tripel Treat is Adelbert’s Tripel B aged in Treaty Oak Barrel Reserve Rum barrels.
