HUNTS POINT, NY – Baldor Specialty Foods, the premier ingredient source for top chefs in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, and The Bronx Brewery, a South Bronx-based, independently-owned, craft brewery, today announced the next round of beers from their collaborative B-Tracks series. The B-Tracks series, which began earlier this year, is a run of limited-edition, experimental beers crafted from rare, in-season, exotic ingredients curated by foragers at Baldor Specialty Foods.

The soon-to-be released beers continue to highlight unique produce items, like Sorrento lemons and Muscat grapes.  The most anticipated beer of the new release, a Kolsch ale, uses pineapple cores and skins. It’s brewed using what Baldor calls SparCs, their term for repurposed food scraps, which is scraps spelled backwards.  The collaborative brew demonstrates how food some people might otherwise throw away actually contains a great deal of usable flavor and value.

The next B-Tracks series beers to be released this summer are:beer and food course

  • Limoncello Milkshake IPL – a Hazy India Pale Lager featuring a healthy dose of Lactose along with famous Italian Sorrento Lemons which combine for a unique taste – like a beer incarnation of Limoncello It is refreshingly tart and brings a pleasant hop-bitterness and creaminess to the mouth that make for a perfect cold summer brew.  Available in The Taproom beginning on June 12th.
  • The Tripel Muskateers: A Belgian Tripel with a complex, spicy and approachable drinking experience that is taken to the next level with Muscat Grapes, specially sourced by Baldor which The Bronx Brewery uses in a can conditioning process – their first time doing so for a beer. Available in The Taproom beginning on June 29th.
  • More To The Core: A crisp and soft Kolsch Ale with big Pineapple The beer is brewed with parts of the pineapple not many are familiar with consuming – the cores and skins, which makes this beer a testament to the recyclability of the spiny fruit’s under-utilized spare parts. Available in The Taproom beginning on July 30th.

Released earlier this year, the first round of Baldor/Bronx Beer B-Tracks beers included Yokozuna Wit, a Belgian-style Witbier made with authentic Sumo Citrus™ and Szechuan Buttons™; Heavy Fennel, a dry Irish stout made with fennel Pollen; and most recently, My Berry Own IPA, a Northeast-style IPA made with Harry’s Berries famous strawberries. These first three limited-edition beers were so popular that they’ve sold out of the Taproom, though Yokozuna Wit and My Berry Own IPA are expected to make a return, by popular demand.

“The first releases from our B-Tracks series have really taken off, with many customers asking for us to make them available on a permanent basis,” says Damian Brown, President of The Bronx Brewery. “But with the seasonal nature of the fresh ingredients Baldor Specialty Foods is providing, expanding production of these exotic brews will be a challenge, so for now they will only be available in our taproom for a limited time.”

“Baldor continues to enjoy working with The Bronx Brewery to develop creative and refreshing brews,” said Benjamin Walker, Senior Director of Marketing and Development for Baldor Specialty Foods. “And in using our pineapple SparCs for their More to the Core Kolsch ale, our South Bronx neighbors are helping us to continue our sustainability mission of zero organic waste to landfill – something we are very proud of and committed to as a zero-organic waste facility.”

The Bronx Brewery plans to release a total of 8-10 beers throughout the year as part of their B-Tracks Series of experimental, specialty beers.

Given their limited quantities, B-Track series beers will only be available at The Bronx Brewery’s Taproom for a short time this summer. The taproom room is located at 856 East 136th Street, Bronx NY 10454 and is open 7-days a week.
