Fiction Beer Company, well known for award winning dark lagers and hazy pale ales as well as for pioneering new styles in their region, will release their first collaboration with Calicraft Brewing, known for their use of local ingredients and deriving inspiration from the agricultural community that surrounds them.  Together they have created a mixed culture dry hopped brut IPA brewed with 25% Viognier grapes and peaches called, Dial C for Collaboration.

“Calicraft’s creative use of ingredients has intrigued us for several years.  In particular their use of grapes in the creation of interesting beer styles was something we really hoped to bring to this collaboration” says Ryan Kilpatrick from Fiction Beer Company.  As ideas were being tossed back and forth the brewers really clung to the thought of using iconic fruits from their respective regions.  They settled on using peaches and Viognier grapes.  “We felt the aromas and flavors of these fruits would complement and enhance the profile of the base beer which was to be a brut IPA,” says Ryan. Find a Craft Brewery Dial C for Collaboration was brewed in anticipation of this year’s Colorado Brewer’s Guild Collaboration Fest.  To step things up and increase the complexity in their beer, Calicraft and Fiction decided to use a blend of yeasts including brettanomyces and champagne yeast.  To finish the beer, they used plenty of dry hops: Palisade, Amarillo, and Mosaic all blended to bring out the stone fruit, pear, and tropical fruit characteristics contributed by the fruit and yeast.

Dial C for Collaboration will be available for sale at Fiction Beer Company starting on Saturday March 2nd.  The beer will be available in 16oz 4 packs and on draft while supplies last.
