SOMERDALE, NJ – Flying Fish Brewing Company, 10-time medal winners at the Great American Beer Festival and the Garden State’s largest craft brewery, is bringing dessert and beer pairings to a single can – and four-packs – with the release of Flying Fish’s Fried Ice Cream Stout.

The limited-release 10.3% ABV Imperial Stout is a no-spoon-required indulgence featuring aromas of roasted malt and vanilla with flavors of real vanilla ice cream, cinnamon and dark chocolate.

“We know stout season is approaching but we just couldn’t let go of ice cream season,” says Flying Fish Brewer Chris Vaughn. “Well, that and knowing Philadelphia is credited as the home of fried ice cream. All of it made a Fried Ice Cream Imperial Stout an obvious choice for our next limited release.”

Some food historians credit the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair for creating fried ice cream while others cite Japanese tempura restaurants in the 1960s. That did not stop Vaughn and the Flying Fish team from hand-crafting the beer’s ingredients as an homage to Philly’s fried ice cream heritage and the city’s existing fried ice cream scene.

“We’ve literally fried up some inspiration and then brewed a dessert beer that perfectly pairs our brewing philosophy and how we encourage Flying Fish fans to ‘drink outside their usual pond,’” says Lou Romano, President of Flying Fish Brewing Company. “If you like stouts, if you like ice cream, if you like fried ice cream, this is for you. If you haven’t tried fried ice cream before, what are you waiting for?”

Flying Fish Fried Ice Cream Stout is the third limited release from Flying Fish this year, joining Hoppy Java, a big bodied, intensely hopped golden IPA with a distinct coffee presence, and Few and Far, a Double IPA with flavor and aroma of nectarines, tangerines and pine brewed with malt from the East Coast of Ireland.

Flying Fish Fried Ice Cream Imperial Stout will be available in 4-packs of 16 oz. cans and limited draft in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland.
