Second Line Brewing proudly announces their release of Cease to Love, a bourbon-barrel aged Russian Imperial Stout infused with toasted coconut. This bold and complex beer will be released in 1/6th barrel kegs as well as 22-oz “bombers”. Cease to Love will initially be available at the brewery followed by retail locations throughout New Orleans in the next few weeks.

Mark Logan, owner and founder is especially pleased with how this beer turned out stating, “It has amazing complexity and flavor. The fact that I was able to work with Second Line Brewing Head Brewer Gar Hatcher and Wayward Owl Head Brewer/Owner Justin Boswell, on the recipe makes it even more gratifying. I have a great deal of professional respect for these two guys and it’s wonderful to have been able to create something with them”.

The name “Cease to Love” is a nod to the New Orleans visit in 1872 by the Russian Grand Duke, Alexis Alexandrovich Romanov. While in St. Louis, the Duke had become enchanted by a burlesque star named Lydia Thompson and followed her to New Orleans during Mardi Gras. To capitalize on the romance, a musical standard performed by Lydia, “If Ever I Cease to Love” was chosen as the official anthem of Rex, the King of Carnival. To this day, “If Ever I Cease to Love” remains the royal anthem of the Rex organization.

Second Line Brewing brewed its first batch in July of 2015 and is distributed by Crescent Crown Distributing. Their beer is found at over 30 draft beer accounts throughout New Orleans and on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. The company’s Route 47 Double Dry-hopped Red IPA, is also available in 22-oz bombers at New Orleans retail and specialty craft beer stores.  Second Line Brewing will soon be releasing their Batture Blonde Ale and Second Line Brewing IPA in 12-oz bottles.
