Spring and summer seasonals Vernal Minthe Stout and Mexican Logger return

DURANGO, Colo. – March 19, 2015 – Today Ska Brewing Company is announcing the release dates for Vernal Minthe Stout and Mexican Logger. Vernal Minthe Stout is the spring seasonal and Mexican Logger will be the feature beer in Ska’s summer collection.

“Spring is a great time for a more sessionable beer,” said Dave Thibodeau, co-founder of Ska Brewing Company. “But in Colorado you still need something to keep you warm just in case that spring snow storm hits. That is why both the Vernal Minthe Stout and Mexican Logger are perfect to be released this time of year.”

Vernal Minthe Stout is a stout brewed with peppermint, spearmint, cocoa and vanilla beans. Vernal Minthe Stout is a unique and rewarding treat. Sweet, with refreshing peppermint and spearmint throughout, but with dark roasted and milk chocolate notes for balance. The medium body of the stout allows the mint to shine through. Some have called it an Andes Mint in stout form; there’s no doubt it’s a great dessert beer. Vernal Minthe Stout is 5.8 percent alcohol per volume. This beer will be available starting on March 20.

Mexican Logger is one of Ska’s most highly anticipated seasonal beers. Originally brewed in 1999, Mexican Logger is made with premium malts, Noble hop varieties and fermented with a lager yeast strain from Mexico City.

The beer features a light-to-medium bodied with flavors of fresh grain, sweet malt and balanced by a pleasant bite of Saaz hops. Mexican Logger has a five percent alcohol by volume and won Best of Show in 2012 at the Craft Lager Festival.

“Durango gets really hot in the summer,” said Thibodeau. “With Mexican Logger we took a style of beer that we loved, threw our own spin on and one-upped it.”

To celebrate the release, Ska is hosting a release party at Ska Brewing World Headquarters (225 Girard St. Durango CO) on Wednesday, April 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will feature music from the Diabolical Sound Platoon and $3 Mexican Loggers.

Mexican Logger will be available in all of Ska’s markets starting April 1.
