Nashville, Tenn. – Yazoo Brewing of Nashville, Tenn., and The Rare Beer Club®, which ships unique craft beers nationwide, are teaming up on a special limited release beer, Yazoo Vérifiez vos Fruits!, to benefit the Pints for Prostates campaign.

Yazoo Vérifiez vos Fruits! – which means Check Your Fruit in French — was brewed exclusively to create awareness and raise funds to support the mission of Pints for Prostates. The beer is a Belgian-style Tripel fermented with multiple brettanomyces strains and aged in French Oak Merlot casks with a blend of souring bacteria for over a year. The beer was then refermented on Cherries and Cranberries.

“Yazoo Brewing believes in the Pints for Prostates approach of reaching men through the universal language of beer. The fight against prostate cancer is a personal one for me, as my father was recently diagnosed and is receiving treatment for the disease,” said Brandon Jones, Head of Barrel and Wild Beer Production at Yazoo Brewing. “We’re excited that through The Rare Beer Club® beer fans around the country will get the chance to try Yazoo beer.”

The label of the limited-edition beer features the Pints for Prostates logo to remind people of the importance of screening for prostate cancer, a leading cause of death among American men. A donation from every 750-milliliter bottle of Yazoo Vérifiez vos Fruits! sold will be made to Pints for Prostates.

“At Pints for Prostates we want men to take charge of their health and get screened for prostate cancer. This limited edition beer helps us to spread this important message,” said Rick Lyke, a Beer Stylesprostate cancer survivor who founded Pints for Prostates after successful prostate cancer surgery in April 2008. “We really appreciate Yazoo Brewing and The Rare Beer Club® teaming up for this project. We are fortunate that the craft beer community is generous and caring.”

When this very limited batch of Yazoo Vérifiez vos Fruits! is gone, it is gone. There are only three ways for beer lovers to try the unique beer:

  • Join The Rare Beer Club online or call 800-625-8238 and be sure to start your membership in September or earlier. The ordering deadline is Sept. 15 to receive this beer.
  • Attend the Denver Rare Beer Tasting IX in Colorado on Oct. 6, where Yazoo Brewing will be pouring samples of the brew alongside 67 other great craft brewers offering extremely rare, exotic and vintage beers.
  • Visit Yazoo Brewing’s taproom in Nashville, where a limited number of bottles will be available.

“This is the eighth year The Rare Beer Club® has partnered with Pints for Prostates on this project and we’re pleased to support the cause. Our members really look forward to a unique beer each year. Having Yazoo Brewing on board this year will generate quite a bit of interest,” said President Kris Calef. “Together with the brewery, we’ll donate $1.00 for every bottle sold and include a pair of Pints for Prostates coasters in each shipment to remind our members to get tested. A little education and early detection goes a long way to save lives.”

According to the National Cancer Institute, prostate cancer will claim nearly 27,000 men’s lives in the U.S. during 2017. Prostates cancer is 33 percent more common in men than breast cancer is in women, yet few men know they should have a prostate health screenings at age 40.
