PRESS RELEASE
New Series Destination Beer Pilot Episode to Debut April 7, 2015
March 25, 2015 – Destination Beer, a new series featuring travel destinations for craft beer and food lovers, will debut the pilot episode on Tuesday, April 7. The show will air on the Destination Beer You Tube Channel (www.youtube.com/DestinationBeerShow) at 7pm Eastern.
2010 Master Chef Finalist Chris Spradley, created Destination Beer and will host the new show which is described as “a new travel and cooking reality show with great beer as the main ingredient!” The pilot episode will feature Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon.
Spradley said, “This is the show for everyone! Cooking shows are popular, craft beer is booming and everyone loves to travel!”
Each episode will feature a local craft brewery in the destination city, the beers they make and the people behind the scenes making the magic happen. Chefs, local to the featured brewery, will prepare amazing dishes and pair them with selected beers and each recipe will be available to viewers on the website after the show airs.
Travel activities in the destination city will also be featured, including from the pilot episode in Bend, mountain biking, hiking, snow boarding and golf.
By combining beer, food and travel in one show, Destination Beer brings together three things that Americans are passionate about. According to Brewers Association statistics, there are over 95 million beer lovers in America. Craft beer growth in 2014 was 18% by volume and 22% by dollars[1] continuing a staggering growth model as compared to the overall economy including overall beer sales, which continue to decline. Cooking shows are also growing in popularity. The Food Network saw growth of over 20% in 2012 with a nightly average of 1.1 million total viewers ranging in age from 25-54[2].
Future episodes of the show will feature destinations such as New Glarus, Wisconsin; Omaha, Nebraska; Tampa, Florida; Brooklyn, New York, New Orleans, Louisiana and Houston, Texas, taking viewers behind the scenes of breweries and introducing them to the people behind the beer, great local dishes and travel opportunities in the area.
Spradley also hosts a weekly radio show about beer, What’s On Tap Radio, which won 3rd place, from the North American Guild of Beer Writers in the Best Podcast category at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival.
