OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — In the midst of a year of growth and expansion for Oklahoma breweries, Oklahoma City craft beer bar Oak & Ore will observe American Craft Beer week, beginning May 14, with four days of special events featuring the release of beers created and brewed in collaboration with Prairie Artisan Ales OKC, Elk Valley Brewing Company, Roughtail Brewing Company, and Stonecloud Brewing Company.
“2018 is a very special year for Oklahoma brewers,” said Micah Andrews, owner of Oak & Ore. “With recent changes and new laws going into effect this October, our state is primed to become nationally recognized as a great home for brewing. We already have an incredible roster of breweries, and there are plenty more on the way. American Craft Beer Week is a good time to appreciate where we are, how far we’ve come, and where we’re going.”
Andrews and other staff members of Oak & Ore recently spent time in local brewhouses. They teamed up with breweries around Oklahoma City to create four specialty beers that will be released during the week.
“Our staff knows a lot about beer, but we were really given an in-depth education by these guys,” said Andrews. “We brewed a very rich imperial stout at Elk Valley; Stonecloud owner Joel Irby taught us about blending beers together from different barrels; Roughtail showed us how to work with fruit; and at Prairie OKC we saw how to work delicately with flavors like grape must. We learned something new and fascinating at each place, and we can’t wait to literally share the fruits of our labor with the public.”
