San Antonio, TX – For the 2nd year, San Antonio’s Alamo Beer Company and Kiolbassa have teamed up for Fatherfest. The event was created as a way for families to spend time with dad on Father’s Day plus be a platform to promote awareness of men’s health issues. Fatherfest will begin at noon and run until 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 19 on the grounds of Alamo Beer Company located at 202 Lamar Street, San Antonio, Texas 78202. Music will be headlined by Mitch Webb and the Swindles with performances by Clint Tomerlin with Lacey Brinson and Abraham Weaver.

Additional Fatherfest activities include local vendors, moon bounce, food truck competition, men’s health screenings and a special Kiolbassa Celebrity cook-off. This year a new section titled, “The Workshop,” will feature presentations from a grill master, beer expert and men’s health professional. As always, Alamo Beer Company is kid and pet-friendly. Visit alamobeer.com or kiolbassa.com for more information.

Part of the proceeds for Fatherfest will be donated to Pints for Prostates with commemorative glassware available for purchase. Pints for Prostates is a 501(c)3 campaign that reaches men through the universal language of beer to encourage them to take charge of their health.

“This last year I was affected with my own personal battle with prostate cancer. Fortunately, it was caught early and the cancer is gone,” stated Eugene Simor, founder and CEO of Alamo Beer Company. “That’s why Fatherfest is important. It’s not only a great time for families, it brings awareness to some very important men’s health issues. We are proud to be partnering with Kiolbassa to support this cause. ” concluded Simor.

According to the National Cancer Institute’s website, it is estimated that in 2016 there will be over 180,000 new cases of prostate cancer in the United States. Early detection is key in reducing the national mortality rates. The Urology Place, led by Dr. Kella, will be providing free prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood testing for the first 300 men. Testosterone testing will also be available for a minimal fee.

About Kiolbassa Sausage

San Antonio-based Kiolbassa Provisions is committed to the slow crafting of sausage with only real meat, in 150 lbs. batches, and smoking it in a traditional hardwood smokehouse to give it the legendary taste that has made it the sausage-lover’s sausage.
