This Mother’s Day, bring your mom into the Timeless Pints tasting room for an afternoon full of fun, food, beer and live entertainment!
On Sunday, May 10th the Nightime Band will perform live from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and Zaul’s Catering will serve tacos, burritos, sopes and more from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. (Food for purchase.) “I wanted to do something special to celebrate Mother’s Day,” Chris said. “A Heather Ale just seemed to fit.”
Chris got the idea to brew a Heather Ale after reading about the style in a magazine some time ago. He was intrigued at the prospect of using a new ingredient, dry heather tips, and thought the overall style seemed unique and fairly uncommon in Southern California.
Chris explained, saying, “The use of heather in ales dates back thousands of years. It was used in Europe and the UK, where it was prevalent. In the US, heather grows best in acidic soil, found East of the Mississippi. I think it’s a pretty uncommon style in our area. I don’t believe I have ever seen a bottle of Heather Ale in a store.”
TP’s Heather Ale, lightheartedly nicknamed the “Heather Lockbeer,” is light and dry – perfect for warmer weather. Dried heather tips provide a gentle bitterness as well as floral aromatics. The ale has an ABV of 6% and 19.8 IBU’s. Chris brewed 10 gallons of the special release and we anticipate it will go fast! The Heather Ale is only available on Mother’s Day in 10 ounce pours.
