The Midwest Beat – Live at Door County Brewing Company

Share Post

For ten years, The Midwest Beat has been making infectiously fun music, which is why the Door County Brewing Concert Series is psyched to have them live in our Tap Room, this Saturday at 7pm.

The Midwest Beat is composed of four very talented musicians, Matt Joyce & Kyle Denton on guitar and vocals, Christopher Capelle on the drums, and Tim Schweiger on the bass.

With two European tours and multiple albums under their belt, The Midwest Beat is best known for their up-tempo, Jukebox-ready tunes that are mercilessly concise.

“The Midwest Beat are a peculiarly elusive beast,” says fellow musician Keith Brammer. “Upon listening to their new LP Free of Being (Dusty Medical Records/Wild Honey Records) one gets the sense of history, but not in a specific sense; rather, in the sense that these four musicians have absorbed several generations worth of music, and are determinedly reconfiguring it to their own ends. The Midwest Beat has come a long way in their ten-year history; which is to be expected from a band who have released three previous LP’s, along with a half-dozen EP’s and singles on no less than 8 different labels.”

“This is the most northern venue we’ve ever played,” says Chris Capelle of The Midwest Beat. “And we love beer so playing at a brewery is super sweet!”

On what we can expect from their show this Saturday, “The Midwest Beat bring a hint of classic country & western, early ’60′s beatpop, straightup ’70′s rock, powerpop, and modern Americana,” says Capelle. “A mix of originals and covers all find their way into the mix. “Free of Being”, our 3rd full length, is out now and we’ll be playing a lot of stuff from the new record!”
