Fairbanks, Alaska – On Halloween in 2012, HooDoo Brewing Co. opened their doors to an enthusiastic crowd who waited patiently for fresh, local beer.

Next Friday, October 31st, is HooDoo’s two-year Anniversary, which will no doubt be fun since it is on Halloween – and it’s a Friday night. In true HooDoo form, they have a fun night of treats planned.

Doors open at 3pm, as usual, but the celebration kicks off at 4pm with the annual tapping of their highly-anticipated fruit beer, the Pumpkin Ale, pouring from a large pumpkin made into a keg.

Drawings for great prizes will happen every half-hour starting at 4pm for those who come in costume. Other treats for adults will be $1 Stout floats thanks to Coldstone Creamery. And for the kids, and kids at heart, spiced cupcakes by local confectioner A&K Cupcakes will be free and of course, loads of candy up will be up for grabs. A Limerick started Monday on their Facebook page. For entertainment, the winners will read their limericks aloud to the crowd at 7pm.

About HooDoo Pumpkin Ale: Full-bodied, Complex, Spiced. “Pumpkin pie in a glass,” said a few patrons last year.

As the days get shorter, the temperature drops, and the snow begins to accumulate, nothing warms the Fairbanks soul better than a slice of creamy pumpkin pie, topped with a dollop of whip cream.

Especially if this delicious treat comes in beer form. HooDoo Pumpkin Ale is an old Ale brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves and allspice and 100% real pumpkin.

The rich aromas from the pumpkin and light spice additions complement the rich malty base of this deep orange colored beer. Upon first sip, an up-front spice is immediately supported by a creamy, complex sweetness. The spices give way to rich maltiness before the beer finishes cleanly, but full-bodied.

It’s a perfect beer for Fall, and a great celebration ale as we ease into the holidays. Plus, it’s wonderful to cook with. Try it in homemade ice cream, pumpkin pie, or a roasted pumpkin-apple soup.

About HooDoo Brewing Co.: HooDoo Brewing Company is the realization of a decade long dream.  Born and raised in Fairbanks, Bobby Wilken first discovered the goodness that is beer while home brewing during college at University of Montana (2002).

After Bobby’s first homebrew batch was bottled up, there was no turning back.  He finished his business degree and went on to the Siebel Institute of Brewing in Chicago and Munich, Germany.  While in Europe, Bobby toured breweries in England, Belgium, and Germany for a closer look at how the world’s best breweries make their delicious beverages. Upon returning to Alaska, he joined the crew at industry pioneer Alaskan Brewing Company in Juneau.  After a couple of years brewing Alaskan’s award winning beers Bobby moved into the laboratory to focus on quality control and recipe development.

Since opening their doors, HooDoo Brewing Co. has been instrumental in nurturing beer culture in Interior Alaska by providing fresh, well made craft beer – brewed in the heart of Alaska.
