Rapidly Growing WOB Franchise to Open Third Tavern in New York State
New York, NY (April 8, 2015) – Featuring the best local craft beers and one of the widest selections of brews from around the globe, World of Beer Franchising, Inc., (WOB) is opening its third tavern in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood this spring at 320 8th Avenue, New York, NY. WOB offers guests over 500 bottles and 50 rotating taps inviting guests into a journey to discover the best in local and international beers. The rapidly expanding tavern franchise currently operates nearly 70 taverns in 20 states. This tavern will employ about 60 people.
“Our goal is to provide our guests with a one-of-a-kind World of Beer experience they won’t find anywhere else,” said Curtis Wong, WOB-Chelsea general manager. “Whether you’re a passionate beer lover or simply looking for a friendly place to gather for great casual food and a drink, we hope to see you here.”
The 5,000-square-foot tavern with a nearly 1,200-square-foot indoor patio will feature the franchise’s archetype design, providing guests with a warm and inviting interior complemented with modern, sleek touches. WOB taverns showcase the hundreds of bottled beers offered through the windows of the tavern’s signature beer cooler and the long bar features rows of taps. World of Beer–Chelsea will also feature a stage to host live entertainment throughout the week.
This location is proud to partner with many local breweries including, Brooklyn Brewery (Brooklyn, NY); Six Point Brewery (Brooklyn, NY); Kelso Brewery (Brooklyn, NY); The Bronx Brewery (Bronx, NY); Gun Hill Brewing Co. (Bronx, NY); The Blue Point Brewing Company (Patchogue, NY); Barrier Brewing Co. (Oceanside, NY); Great South Bay Brewery (Bay Shore, NY); Captain Lawrence Brewing Company (Elmsford, NY); Peekskill Brewery (Peekskill, NY); Andean Brewing Company (Blauvelt, NY); and Singlecut Beersmiths (Astoria, NY). Local brewery relationships are a key part of the WOB tavern concept, as owners partner with many nearby breweries to offer tap takeovers, rare brews and beer education classes for the craft beer enthusiast.
According to the Brewers Association, craft beer sales rose 18 percent in 2014. New York is one of just 13 states with more than 100 local craft breweries.
Celebrating the popularity of craft beer and its culture, WOB rotates taps daily so guests will discover something new and unique on every visit. Signature craft spirit cocktails, ciders and wine along with nonalcoholic beverages are also available. WOB pairs its craft brews with the franchise’s signature “Tavern Fare” menu featuring a variety of comfort foods and traditional bar offerings with a contemporary spin, such as Giant Bavarian Pretzels, a Guinness “Brat” Slider and the Chimay Burger topped with melted Chimay cheese made at the brewery in Belgium. WOB-Chelsea will serve lunch and dinner daily and on Sundays will offer a unique BEERunch menu. WOB will also host live music performances Thursday through Saturday.
Brewing Variety One Beer at a Time
Not sure what type of craft beer might taste best or a little daunted about what beer style to try? Specially trained servers complete a two-week beer school and will be on hand to guide guests through the WOB experience centered around craft beer discovery, flavorful food that pairs well with beer, live music and televised sports.
A Loyalty Club helps guests discover new beer styles, flavors and brands while rewarding them with points to earn gift cards, t-shirts, complimentary parties and other pub perks. Putting the WOB culture in guests’ hands, the loyalty program is easily accessed and available through the WOB app, available on iPhone and Android smartphones.
“We are pleased to be a growing part of New York’s passionate craft beer community with this new location in the Chelsea neighborhood,” said World of Beer CEO Paul Avery. “At World of Beer, we truly believe there is a friend on every barstool. We look forward to sharing the craft brews and their stories with our guests who may be inspired to discover something new.”
Since opening its first tavern in Tampa, Florida in 2007, WOB has grown to nearly 70 locations in 20 states. What began as a neighborhood tavern to sample great craft beers and swap beer-talk for co-founders Scott Zepp and Matt LaFon is becoming a unique cultural phenomenon celebrating the world of craft beers, great food and camaraderie.
WOB-Chelsea will be open from 11:00 a.m.- 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11:00 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Major credit cards are accepted. For more information visit http://worldofbeer.com/locations/Chelsea.
