SAN CARLOS, CA – Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company announces it will release its signature Full Boar Scotch Ale in an all-new, 12-ounce six-pack format. Beginning April 20, its loyal beer customers and other consumers will be able to find six-packs in the brewery’s taproom, along with select retailers throughout Northern California.

“We’ve seen a massive shift in the craft beer industry over the past several years,” said Devil’s Canyon Brewing owner Chris Garrett. “More and more people want high-quality, locally brewed beers but are used to the six-pack. We’re meeting our customers where they are.”

Since 2012, cans have accounted for an increasing percentage of craft brewers’ packaging mix, in a trend that shows no sign of Great American Beer Barsslowing. Analysis from the Brewers Association points to smaller, fast-growing breweries leading the shift away from glass bottles.

The new cans also feature a bold updated look from the 16-year-old brewery.

“To succeed in craft, you have to stand out on the shelf,” according to Garrett. “So we gave our Boar sleek new design, but didn’t touch the Scotch Ale recipe we’ve become known for.”

Full Boar Scotch Ale’s makeover is the first in a series of branding updates to the brewery’s core line of beers, to be unveiled later this year. This first six-pack will be released publicly on April 20 at Devil’s Canyon Beer Garden Fridays, a long-running community event that combines beer, food trucks, families (kids and dogs too) and live music at the Bay Area brewery.

“We exist to serve our community, and as a result we’ve had incredible local support,” said Garrett. ”As the craft industry grows and changes, we need to be broadly relevant, but remain true to what we do best at Devil’s Canyon: make great beer.”
