Lone Tree Brewing and Wild Woods Brewery Craft Birch Bark Kölsch for National Arbor Day

Share Post

LONE TREE, CO— Last week Lone Tree Brewing Company hosted Wild Woods Brewery from Boulder to brew a Kölsch-style beer with Birch tree bark in honor of the upcoming National Arbor Day, a holiday observed to celebrate the importance of trees.

These tree-themed breweries teamed up to brew a beer with bark from Birch trees, a native Colorado tree, in the boil. This addition should impart subtle earthy flavors and fresh herb aromatics, say head brewers Josh West (Lone Tree) and Jake Evans (Wild Woods).

The Arbor Day Kölsch will tap at both breweries on Arbor Day, Friday, April 28. Both breweries plan to pass out seedlings to customers and encourage them to post tree-planting photos on social media using the hashtag #ArborDayBrew.

Lone Tree Brewing Company was the first brewery in Lone Tree, Colorado that opened near Park Meadows Mall in 2011. The neighborhood-focused, family-friendly brewery and tasting room regularly hosts community events that gather around a stylistically diverse lineup of flagship, seasonal, and limited release beers. Lone Tree’s cans and 22-ounce bombers are sold across the state of Colorado, as well as Kansas and Nebraska. Its draft beer is poured at many bars and restaurants in its distribution footprint as well. Find the brewery online at

Jake and Erin Evans opened Wild Woods Brewery in 2012 to brew handcrafted beer inspired by the outdoors. The beers start with recognizable styles with subtle use of some specialty all natural ingredients, like jasmine flower in Wildflower Pale and juniper berries in Treeline IPA. The brewery is located in beautiful Boulder, Colorado with a cozy tap room offering six year-round beers and six rotating seasonals that guests can fill in Crowlers and growlers to-go. Wild Woods beers are available at select Boulder restaurants and tap houses, too. Find the brewery online at
