Sandpoint, Idaho – MickDuff’s Brewing Co. Beer Hall is excited to host and support the Lake Pend Oreille WATERKEEPER® (LPOW) in honor of National Water Quality Month. Water quality is important to craft beer and the water in North Idaho, specifically Lake Pend Oreille, is extremely important for MickDuff’s Naturally North Ales.

“We love our water here in Sandpoint and Lake Pend Oreille, plus its tributaries, provides  great water for us to make our all natural, chemical free, craft beer with and it is important we are active in protecting the pristine quality of our local resource,” explained Mickey Mahoney, Head Brewer/co-Owner.

To show support for the LPOW and Water Quality Month, MickDuff’s is donating $.50 of every pint sold at the Beer Hall from 5:30pm-close, every Tuesday in August, to the LPOW. They are also hosting a fundraiser, special beer release and Tap Party at the Beer Hall Thursday, August 21 from 5:30pm to 8pm. This is a brand new event to raise funds for LPOW and increase awareness of National Water Quality Month, and the importance of keeping our local waterways clean.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with MickDuff’s. This is a great opportunity to work together to raise awareness about the importance of being proactive about keeping our watershed pristine. The fact that we’re able to do it in a light and fun way is an added bonus,” said Shannon Williamson, Executive Director of LPOW.

The MickDuff’s brewing team has crafted a special beer for LPOW. They’ve taken their award winning Tipsy Toe Head Blonde, and dry hopped a keg for the patrons to sample. The special LPOW beer will be available for $5/pint at the new MickDuff’s Beer Hall, located at 220 Cedar Street, downtown Sandpoint on August 21 and a portion of the proceeds will benefit go to the LPOW. There will be food from Jupiter Jane Traveling Café available for purchase. The party also includes a raffle, with prizes donated by Outdoor Experience, Alpine Shop, Eve’s Leaves, Spud’s Ivano’s, and more.

They are a family friendly pub that offers gluten free and vegetarian food menu options.

Funds raised at the Tap Party will go toward LPOW’s outreach, education and advocacy efforts to protect the water quality of Lake Pend Oreille and its affiliated waterways. LPOW is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Sandpoint. The organization was founded in 2009 in response to the usage of herbicides at City Beach and the Windbag Marina to treat Eurasian Watermilfoil, an invasive species. The area is now treated without the use of harmful chemicals, through a diver hand-pull program with the City of Sandpoint and also by the use of bottom barriers to suppress weed growth.
