Thirsty Monk celebrates a beer geek week at it’s downtown location, featuring its rarest and most exclusive beers acquired throughout 2013-2014.

ASHEVILLE, NC – Thirsty Monk launches the annual Thirsty Fest, September 1-7, 2014 at its Downtown location, a week-long celebration of the best of Thirsty Monk’s rare, unique and exclusive beer selection.

Beer lovers unite! Come thirsty and enjoy a collection of special finds hardly ever poured in Western North Carolina. Try the scarce, the unique, the exceptional and the downright unusual on tap all week long.

“Thirsty Fest is an event that we plan and reserve our best kegs for throughout the entire year,” says Vice President, Chall Gray. “With the addition of Certified Cicerone and Head Beer Buyer Matt McComish to our staff in 2013, this year’s Thirsty Fest may be our strongest lineup yet. We can’t wait to crack open special beers such as New Belgium Billy’s Beer, which is usually only on tap in Northern Colorado, and Ballast Point’s Grapefruit Sculpin, another extremely limited release.”

Thirsty Fest will take over both the American Craft Bar upstairs and the Belgian Bar downstairs. Selections on tap upstairs will include Ballast Point’s Grapefruit Sculpin, New Holland’s Dragons Milk Reserve, Oskar Blues’ Bulleit Rye Ten Fidy, New Belgium’s Billy’s Beer, Evil Twin’s Even More Jesus & Doughnut Break, Southern Tier’s 2013 Pumking, The Bruery’s Smoking Wood, Bell’s Hopsolution Ale and many more additions.

Downstairs will feature a selection including The Bruery’s Tart of Darkness, Allagash’s Golden Brett, BFM’s Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien 2013 & 225 Saison, Brouwerij de Dolle’s Oerbier, and plenty more surprises from local, US and international breweries.

Voted a Great American Beer Bar by CraftBeer.com and Paste Magazine Top 40 Beer Bar in America, Thirsty Monk is a recognized leader in Asheville’s beer scene and increasingly renowned regional and national beer destination, and is on its way to garnering further prestige in the US craft beer market.
