MickDuff’s Brewing Company Plans Expansion
SANDPOINT, IDAHO- MickDuff’s Brewing Company is excited to announce the expansion of the brewery in the spring and early summer of 2013. The plan involves taking over the lease of what is the current Pend d’Oreille Winery starting June 1 and moving their current 7-barrel brew house to the production space. The winery will keep the front space as their wine bar and Bistro Rouge Café until September before moving across the street into the newly renovated Belwood Building.
The expansion allows many things. First, brewery operations will more than double in the first year of being at their new location. The increase in production means the pub will hopefully never be out of your favorite brews and distribution to outside markets will start immediately. MickDuff’s will not be bottling or canning for the first year of production but plans to service restaurants and bars with kegs of their award winning ales.
‘It is our hopes that fans and craft beer drinkers in Coeur d’Alene and Spokane, plus many other local regional locations, will be able to have our brews on tap as early as this summer,’ said Duffy Mahoney, owner of MickDuff’s Brewing Co. ‘Growth and change was always something we hoped would come and we are excited to be able to expand after being in business for more than seven years.’
The pub will be able to replace the current brewery with more than 15 additional seats. This will allow them to serve more patrons than ever before. Also, the plans to replace the brewery in the pub with a much smaller pilot system will allow many more seasonals to be brewed annually.
‘The lines and the wait times visitors experience at the pub during the busy seasons and peak days will hopefully go down and more people will be able to spend their time at our pub,’ explained Duffy.
MickDuff’s Brewing Company is a family owner brewpub by two brothers, Mickey and Duffy Mahoney, located in Sandpoint, Idaho on the historic First Avenue. Their 7-barrel brewpub was established on St Patricks’ Day in 2006. Three of their ales have received awards at the North American Beer Awards: Tipsy Toehead Blonde Ale (2012- Gold), Stromhammer IPA (2010- Gold, 2012- Silver) and Knot Tree Porter (2011- Bronze). Their hamburgers are raved about in Sandpoint and consistently rated one of the best places to get a burger by local newspaper Bonner County Daily Bee. They are a family friendly pub that offers gluten free and vegetarian food menu options.
