Pikes Peak Brewing Company is well known in the Pikes Peak Region for its extensive observance of St. Patrick’s Day (and halfway to St. Paddy’s as well…).  “We have really adopted St. Patrick’s Day as our ‘house holiday’ here at PPBC,” says Chris Wright, Founder and head brewer at Pikes Peak Brewing Company, ” we love it so much, we celebrate for 3 straight days in March and again at the halfway mark in September!”   Every February, PPBC brews a special Irish style beer for merry-makers to imbibe while enjoying the many St. Paddy’s Day events PPBC puts on each year.

PPBC’s Paddy O’ the Peak Irish Stout has been a regular stop on the Old Chicago St. Patrick’s Day beer tour, and this year the partnership is taking it to the next level.  “Old Chicago Beer Specialist, Jonny Stringer approached me toward the end of 2013 to discuss PPBC brewing a beer just for Old Chicago”, says Brian Johnson, PPBC Beer Sales Manager.  “The conversation eventually turned to collaborating on a St. Paddy’s Beer and we came up with the idea for brewing an Irish Red Ale for the Old Chicago 2014 St. Paddys Beer Tour.”

To take it a step further PPBC invited Old Chicago staff members to help brew the Irish Red, and today their work has started its journey through the process.  Pikes Peak Brewing would like to thank Jonny Stringer, Carrina Berreous, Joey Gordon, Todd Wyatt, Jennifer Windom and Roger Patino for their help today with brewing the 2014 Paddy O’ the Peak Irish Red Ale!

PPBC Assistant Brewer, Aly Hartwig led today’s brewing collaboration, “It’s always great when the people serving the beer have a chance to get hands-on experience with the brewing process!  The passion and hard work that goes into making the beer can be directly conveyed to those you are pouring for when you’ve been a part of the process.”

Paddy O’ the Peak Irish Red will be on all four Colorado Springs Old Chicago’s St. Patrick’s Day Beer Tours, as well as at the Old Chicago located at Parker and Arapahoe roads, starting February 19, and in the Pikes Peak Brewing Co. Taproom starting February 21.
