Fort Worth, Texas – Rahr & Sons Brewing Co., which started the North Texas craft beer movement in the fall of 2004, will celebrate its 12th anniversary on Nov. 5 with an extended tour & tasting event. The brewery will also release a commemorative beer in November.

The beer, Zwölfjahre, which means 12 years in German, is an American Wheatwine aged for 12 weeks in cabernet wine barrels with cherries. It is produced with a blend of German and American yeast and features a significant amount of wheat with hints of citrus hops. It will be available in 22-ounce bottles and on tap around Dallas-Fort Worth.

Zwölfjahre will debut on tap at the brewery’s 12th anniversary extended tasting event on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Attendees will receive a commemorative pint glass to sample a selection of more than 60 beers, including several rare and limited release varieties such as Bourbon Barrel Aged Regulator and 2014 Midnight Cab. The event will feature live music from local bands and food trucks.

VIP tickets are $55, which includes early access at 11 a.m., a t-shirt, food voucher and VIP area access with additional specialty beers. Regular admission is $20, which will allow access beginning at 12 p.m. and be limited to 1,000 pre-sale tickets. Tickets can be purchased at rahrandsons-brewing-company.ticketleap.com.

Since opening in 2004, owners Fritz and Erin Rahr’s close-knit staff has grown to more than 30 members, and the brewery has expanded distribution from Texas into Oklahoma. Rahr & Sons has also become entrenched in the local community, providing opportunities for hundreds of nonprofits to fundraise at bi-weekly tasting events; raising more than $50,000 for charitable causes through its annual Oktoberfest 5K; and giving a portion of sales from its The Fort Worth beer to the USS Fort Worth Support Committee twice yearly.
